1st Meeting

Our first meeting went great! Here are some of the notes to pass along:

Q: Where do you buy fabric?

A: Fabric Corner, Mass Ave and Mill St, Arlington. This is a great fabric store with very helpful and knowledgeable employees.
A: Joann Fabrics and Crafts, Burlington, Natick. Great stores. There are great sales at Joann's plus you can almost always find a coupon on their website for 40% off one item.
A: Clotilde, catalog and online catalog of sewing supplies and other great stuff.
A: Ben Franklin in Belmont has a limited sewing section. Great if you just need to pick up thread or something quick.
A: Fabric.com

Q: What ideas do you have for future projects?

A: Baby Taggie blankets, Amy Butler bags, Throw Pillows, Simple bags with drawstrings, Stuffed animals, Quilts w/machine quilting, Christmas stockings, Table runners, Little girl dresses, Girl dresses made from adding on to t-shirts, Pleated skirts.

FYI: Always wash your fabric before using it. (That is if you plan on washing your finished project.) Fabrics that are very bold colors and are most likely to fade. You can SET THE COLOR first by soaking the fabric in a mixture of cold water and white distilled vinegar. After an hour, the color should be "set" and won't fade or bleed when washing it in the machine.

Happy Sewing!
